1. Who we are

Tallora is made and run by Salix Limited, a New Zealand company. When this page says "we" or "us", it means Salix Limited. You can reach us at info@salixtech.co.nz about anything on this page.

We follow the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand).

2. What the sensor records

The Tallora sensor is a depth sensor. It measures the distance from the sensor to whatever is below it, at 64 points, about fifteen times a second. It has no camera and cannot take a picture. The readings show heights and shapes, like the view on our home page, and cannot show a face or tell who someone is.

In normal use, the sensor turns those readings into counts and sends only the counts: how many people went in and out in each minute.

While we test a sensor at a door, with the agreement of whoever runs that door, we may also record the raw depth readings to a laptop, so we can check the counts against people counting by hand. Those recordings are 64 distances per frame and nothing more. We keep them to develop and test the counter.

3. Counts from a site

For each sensor we keep the number of people who went in and out in each minute, when the sensor was last in touch, and its software version. We use them to show the site its own dashboard, to check the sensor is working, and to check and improve accuracy.

The counts belong to the site. We do not sell them or share them with anyone else. A site can ask for a copy, or ask us to delete them.

Dashboards are reached through a private link. Anyone with the link can see that dashboard, so treat it like a password. We can replace a link that has been shared too widely.

4. What this website collects

If you fill in the pilot form, we receive your name, email address, and anything else you choose to give: your organisation, town, type of place, how many doors, the size of your door, and your message. It is sent to our inbox by email. We use it only to talk to you about Tallora, and we do not add you to a mailing list.

This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and sets no cookies on its public pages. Staff sign-in, which only Salix uses, sets a session cookie on the admin pages only.

The hand-count page we use when testing a door keeps its taps on the phone it runs on, until whoever is counting chooses to export them.

Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, time and page requested, for security and troubleshooting.

5. Who handles data for us

We use a few providers to run Tallora. They handle data only to provide their service to us:

• Supabase: the database that holds the counts and site settings, in Sydney, Australia.
• Railway: hosting for this website and the dashboards.
• Resend: delivery of emails, such as the pilot form and alerts about a sensor.

6. How long we keep it

Counts are kept while a site uses Tallora, and deleted if the site asks. Pilot form emails are kept while we are talking to you about a pilot, and deleted when you ask or when we no longer need them. Test recordings of depth readings are kept while we develop the counter.

7. Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Email info@salixtech.co.nz and we will reply within 20 working days.

If you are not happy with how we handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at www.privacy.org.nz.

8. Changes

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects a site that uses Tallora, we will tell that site directly.
